Presence is the power to move forward, even when the plan falls apart

Presence is the power to move forward, even when the plan falls apart

So many professionals are taught to focus on five-year plans and next steps, but the reality is most opportunities do not arrive on schedule.

So many professionals are taught to focus on five-year plans and next steps, but the reality is most opportunities do not arrive on schedule. In my own career, every "lucky break" happened because I was present and open to what was unfolding, even when circumstances changed or my best plans unraveled. When setbacks or disappointments hit, it is tempting to replay what went wrong or worry about the uncertain future. The most important move is to pause, get grounded, and ask, "What can I do now, given the opportunities and constraints in front of me?"

This is not about giving up on ambition or strategy. It is about putting your energy where it matters, making decisions and taking action in the present moment. When you stay anchored in presence, you see doors others miss, you connect with the right people, and you keep moving forward no matter how the story changes.

Being present doesn't mean lacking ambition or direction. It means being rooted enough in the current moment to see the opportunities and challenges that planning alone can't predict.

Try This

Next time disappointment or change hits, pause and get your feet on the ground. Ask yourself, 'What can I do right now, with what I have?'

Notice What Happens
